A family and local history
It all started in Sauveterre de Rouergue, a small Aveyron village with Denise and Georges (Max Capdebarthes' parents) as well as Pierre Serieys, friend of the family.
In 1972, they created sports bags and handbags sold to wholesalers.
Bathed in this atmosphere, Max pursued training as a leatherworker in Mazamet, then with the Compagnons du Devoir, which took him to several regions of France.
1987
Back home, in 1987 he created the Atelier Max Capdebarthes in his native village: Sauveterre de Rouergue.
This very pretty village in the heart of a Bastide is marked by the tradition of cutlery since the 14th century.
It is quite naturally that he creates and manufactures knife cases.
"The knife is part of our daily life, it deserves a nice sheath".
1997
Max first moved into the garage of the family home, where he created his first cases. He travels all over France to offer his creations to manufacturers, cutlers, armories and boutiques. The quality of his work, recognized in the world of cutlery, allows him to create a place conducive to production.
In 1997, a workshop was created at the entrance to the village of Sauveterre de Rouergue.
Originally, a manufacturer of knife cases that expanded its know-how to the creation and manufacture of handbags, small leather goods and belts.
2014
In front of the demand and the success of his creations, the opening of a shop in RODEZ is essential and sees the light of day in 2014.
